First test of 2013

Writing a blog in Blogger can be a bit of a pain.
If you cut and paste text from Word then the text size and font style can go for a ball of chalk, and sometimes the space between pictures is really hard to adjust accurately.
So I'm going to give Windows Live Writer a try so look out for a disaster in my next post on this Blog!

Blog width tweek

This post is to test a template width of 1000, with a sidebar width of 250 270.

The track to White Bridge.

Template colour change.

Hmmm! I’ve stayed with the Simple Template but changed the colour, what do you think?

Blog width and picture size test.

For this latest test I’ve increased the template width from 900 to 1220, and reduced sidebar width from 280 down to 250.

I’ve also increased the size of the header picture, and changed the post photographs from medium to large; some have also been moved on the page for better effect.

More Memory

Great news! The new memory I ordered from Mr Memory arrived the next day.
I’ve now installed the new chips, following the brief but accurate instructions and booted up the PC.
Perfect, the new memory has been recognised and I now have 3GB of working RAM.

Sadly, is my PC is only slightly faster, it still takes ages to boot up and Hotmail still freezes the PC if I leave it open too long.

Hmmm it looks as though I’ll have to try something else!!!!

PC Memory Test

The last few weeks my PC has become noticeably slower, particularly when opening my own blog, and if I leave my Hotmail account open, whilst browsing on other tabs my computer just locks up. I’ve tried using Google Chrome instead of Internet Explorer, it does seem faster, but I prefer the way favourites are displayed in Internet Explorer. I run Microsoft Security Essentials and Malwarebytes every day to clean up any uninvited visitors, so I’m coming to the conclusion that my problem is memory based.

My PC is an HP Compaq Presario Desktop SR1539 UK, it has four memory slots and the Maximum Memory is 4GB. Currently two of the slots hold 512 MG of DDR PC3200 and two are empty giving a total of 1GB installed. Most new PC’s these days are sold with 2 or 3 GB of memory, so it seems logical that my PC could do with more memory.

I’ve checked out a few memory sellers on the Internet, I found Crucial were expensive but they do provide the best analysis tool for checking out your installed memory and the clearest explanation of what your upgrade options are. Mr Memory provided the lowest price and the Help Line guy I spoke to (on 01903 692214) was really helpful in suggesting the best upgrade for my PC.

So I’ve ordered two 1GB memory chips from Mr Memory, hopefully the will arrive in the next couple of days, then I'll find out if my cash investment has been worthwhile.

ClustrMaps.

I’ve just come across ClustrMaps, yet another way of viewing visitors to my blog. I’ll be interested to see how the stat’s it produces compared with Blogger Stats, Google Analytics and eXTReME tracking, because so far all of these trackers give different results.
