PC Memory Test

The last few weeks my PC has become noticeably slower, particularly when opening my own blog, and if I leave my Hotmail account open, whilst browsing on other tabs my computer just locks up. I’ve tried using Google Chrome instead of Internet Explorer, it does seem faster, but I prefer the way favourites are displayed in Internet Explorer. I run Microsoft Security Essentials and Malwarebytes every day to clean up any uninvited visitors, so I’m coming to the conclusion that my problem is memory based.

My PC is an HP Compaq Presario Desktop SR1539 UK, it has four memory slots and the Maximum Memory is 4GB. Currently two of the slots hold 512 MG of DDR PC3200 and two are empty giving a total of 1GB installed. Most new PC’s these days are sold with 2 or 3 GB of memory, so it seems logical that my PC could do with more memory.

I’ve checked out a few memory sellers on the Internet, I found Crucial were expensive but they do provide the best analysis tool for checking out your installed memory and the clearest explanation of what your upgrade options are. Mr Memory provided the lowest price and the Help Line guy I spoke to (on 01903 692214) was really helpful in suggesting the best upgrade for my PC.

So I’ve ordered two 1GB memory chips from Mr Memory, hopefully the will arrive in the next couple of days, then I'll find out if my cash investment has been worthwhile.
